Royal
With trans awareness being a matter of unceasing relevance, I figured I would write a little something. A fairytale, maybe. Keep in mind that the labels man and woman were, here, used on purpose. The world no more needs labels.
Royal
there was a woman, and a man
they went to dance in court ballets
they wore the most refined of jewels
it was such weird of a feel
sometimes to see those kneeling boys
and imagine being with them
they sang, the woman, and man
such songs that operas delight in
they sang and wore the best of clothes
the woman, and man, were made to court
they'd twist their honey-curl blondes
and play with only the right toys
it still was queer
sometimes to bow and to pretend
that they were crystal
the man, and woman liked to paint
though with disimilar a taste
for one should draw alabaster swans
the other willed more ragged things
the man would senior in rebellion
the woman must want gentler choice
in velvet strings and golden needles
such that befitted a princess
the man did question female trade
the woman would bend and obey
the man invested in reproach
the woman was unready
the woman, and man did old in age
and fascination quickly grew
the bible unrehearsed for years
its testimony as old as new
the woman talked to her reflection
the man now knew what they should do
to untie the knots of appropriation
their own self to pursue
and in the end, it was all done
change had come forth with full success
the woman, the man, now indeed
was free of sorrow and distress
and it was thereby known that
they was no prince nor princess, they was a strong-willed man staffed in a courtly woman's dress.
